"Physical training is of some value..." - 1 Timothy 4:8

Exercise isn't everything, but it is something. We each have the scriptural command to take care of our body, for it is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:9). The rest of the verse quoted above (1 Timothy 4:8) says "but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come." The Recreation Ministry of Cedar Grove Baptist Church, therefore, has these basic purposes:

1. To provide believers with opportunities to care for their bodies.

2. To provide believers with opportunities to practice godly behaviors such as encouragement, fellowship, etc.

3. To provide our community with a point of contact with our church, so that we might share Christ's love with them.
    

Upward Ministries are a program designed to give children (both boys and girls) and their families a positive sports experience by partnering with local churches to build character, self esteem and salvation. The season will incorporate practice, games, devotions, and a celebration event at the end of the season. The emphasis is on skill development and spiritual growth. Upward is a national organization and you can learn more about them at their website, www.upward.org.
